Fujiya & Miyagi tour North & America
There aren't many things more soothing on a stressful day than the peaceful, chug-a-lug of Fujiya & Miyagi's Krautrock-influenced beats*. This is a good thing, especially for the fair citizenry of 16 North American cities, each of which will get the F&M live treatment this fall, beginning on September 25. No word on new material from the Brighton trio just yet, but hopefully time on the road will encourage the guys to compose a proper follow-up to 2006's thoroughly enjoyable Transparent Things. Call it Ampersand Fest 2007: Fujiya & Miyagi are slated to join Peter Bjorn & John as the buzzy Swedish trio cris-crosses the United States from the end of April through much of May. Unlike their eponymous tour mates, Fujiya & Miyaji are actually three young men from Brighton, U.K.—David Best, Steve Lewis, and Matt Hainsby, to be exact—not a duo of Japanese girls. In a case of strange timing, Fujiya and Miyagi is the second English-speaking band making Paste news today with Japanese names (read about the other, Asobi Seksu, here). English trio Fujiya and Miyagi, whose first album, Transparent Things, was released February 6 on Deaf Dumb & Blind Recordings, have announced a mini tour of the U.S. starting next month.
