Gang of Four Sells Vials of Blood to Fans to Fund Album

English post-punk dynamos Gang of Four clearly know the value of a personal touch. To fund their new album, Content, they’re asking fans for donations. In exchange, they’re offering everything from hand-decorated cassette recordings of their first show to a private listening session with Andy Gill at his studio. Thoughtful, creative rewards are the bread and butter of artists seeking funding on sites like Kickstarter and GoF’s choice, PledgeMusic, but the Leeds rockers really went off the deep end with their reward for fans who donate £45 — along with a book showing “ceramic tiles depicting the last 40 years...  read more

"Gang of Two" doesn't roll off the tongue the way "Gang of Four" does, but that's the technicality of their situation now that the quartet's rhythm section has departed (for real this time). The original lineup reunited in 2005, and played all together as recently as the end of 2006. Guitarist Andy Gill and singer Jon King will continue to make music under the moniker, though bassist...  read more

Gang of Four prepares first new album in 15 years

Britain’s post-punk rockers Gang of Four are recording new material for an upcoming album to be released in June Billboard reports. The band made a name for itself during the late '70s post-punk era with its innovative sound and politically charged lyrics. The band reunited in 2005 after a long hiatus to rerecord some classic songs for the album Return the Gift and go on a short tour. The band members started writing material for a new album in Istanbul last November, and have since completed several recording sessions at guitarist Andy Gill’s studio in London. Bassist Dave Allen told...  read more
