Late last summer, The Walkmen sent us You & Me, a gorgeously fuzzy postcard from tiny islands, foreign provinces, and wherever else the New-York fivesome was apparently enjoying a splendid holiday. We didn't care so much exactly where it came from, we just knew it added an umbrella to an already delicious drink. High Places to release debut album in fall

Layer-heavy Brooklyn duo High Places, who recently inspired the budding eMusic Selects program, will release their self-titled debut come September. With a self-described sound of "two dads hanging out" on their MySpace, Mary Pearson (a trained bassoonist) and Rob Barber (a trained visual artist) incorporate bird calls, treated guitar, glockenspiel and even a few mixing bowls into their music.
