Ennio Morricone scoring Inglorious Basterds
For his past two movies, Kill Bill and Death Proof, Quentin Tarantino appropriated some of the music by noted film composer Ennio Morricone. No actual collaboration ever occurred, even though Tarantino was requesting that people write Morricone-esque music for his next film. It's not like this was the first time he'd tried for Morricone, either, since the Italian composer refused to work on Pulp Fiction.... read more

We've been watching the casting fill up on Quentin Tarantino's WWII film Inglorious Basterds for some time now, and today the saga seems to be closing down. The Playlist reports that Samuel L. Jackson muscled his way into a part (after being miffed he wasn't being considered for any) as a rarely present narrator.... read more

It had been nearly a week since the latest round of silly online casting rumors for Inglourious Basterds, which meant that the Weinsteins needed to refocus our attention back to the film. As such, they issued a press release yesterday announcing that the film had begun shooting. Not only does the statement officially change the name of the film back to how Tarantino had it in his first draft (and distinguishes it from Enzo Castellari's 1978 feature), but it puts the film's timetable on par with what Tarantino promised. At this rate, we may see it premiere at Cannes after... read more
Found in: NewsDiane Kruger and Til Schweiger are also Inglorious Bastards
The Hollywood Reporter has listed the latest round of updates for Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards. First up is Diane Kruger, who's been cast as Bridget Von Hammersmark in a role previously thought to go to Nastassja Kinski. Kruger's not particularly well-known and her few large feature performances come from Troy and the National Treasure movies, which weren't exactly roles that made her stretch. Still, Tarantino's got an incredible eye for talent, so he must see something there that others haven't.... read more
Found in: Movies, NewsCasting continues for Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards
When Quentin Tarantino decided to remake the 1977 Italian film, Inglorious Bastards, he probably had no idea how uncomfortably close to the mark that descriptor would apply to the creative process. Well, the "inglorious" part, at least. First, Tarantino sat on the screenplay for about five years, evidently uncertain how to market the 600-page behemoth. Then, the movie was going to be split into two parts, and then sort of not. Now more fresh grist from the industry rumor mill arrives in the form of a casting shake-up.... read more

Found in: Movies, NewsQuentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards shooting in October
It's been almost five yars since Quentin Tarantino first mentioned his war film Inglorious Bastards. At the time, it had a 600-page screenplay and was thought of as a possible trilogy. But Tarantino makes films at his own pace, with only six under his belt since his debut with Resevoir Dogs. Apparently something fired him up at Cannes this year, though, and he announced that Bastards would premier there next year, a claim greeted with large amounts of skepticism.... read more
