Back from the land of six-dollar beer, port-o-potties and hippie folk, Paste editor-at-large Jay Sweet appeared this morning on Boston's Fox 25 to wrap up the highlights of Bonnaroo 2008.
Back from the land of six-dollar beer, port-o-potties and hippie folk, Paste editor-at-large Jay Sweet appeared this morning on Boston's Fox 25 to wrap up the highlights of Bonnaroo 2008.
Paste’s own editor-at-large, Jay Sweet, did one of the things that he does best this morning: he visited the good folks at Boston’s FOX 25 and talked about all of the issues within our newest issue.
This month’s discussion focused mainly on Paste’s Top Ten Baseball Songs, Ben Gibbard writing his own cover story and this year’s Newport Folk Festival line-up. He also exclusively spills the name of an artist just signed to the festival.
Does Jay think the fest will be folky enough? Who is this mystery artist? Aren't you curious?
That’s what we thought!

One day, Paste will have its own television network. It will feature Strum That Tune, a game show devoted to singer-songwriters hosted by Ryan Adams, Indie Cribs, a look inside the small, cramped apartments of Brooklyn-based musicians, and The Philip Seymour Hoffman Hour, a daily bit of respite from your busy life, featuring a single, beautiful image of Hoffman.
It certainly sounds grand, but until we secure the funding to compete with the likes of the Outdoor Life Network, we can take comfort in some very capable televised representation. As he has on many occasions, Paste’s editor-at-large Jay Sweet recently stopped by the studios of Boston’s FOX25 and provided a great visual corollary to the current issue of Paste.

Continuing his long tradition of spreading the good word on new tunes, Paste editor at large Jay Sweet appeared on Boston's FOX 25 morning news program today to chat about some pertinent musical topics. Namely: our November cover boy Ryan Adams, I'm Not There, the Eagles, and Paste's "name your own price" subscription drive (ends soon!).

Today, Paste’s editor-at-large Jay Sweet had his latest appearance on “FOX Rocks in the Morning” on Boston’s FOX 25. One of the topics discussed was Bruce Springsteen’s latest album Magic, which came out today and is the first studio recording that The Boss has done with The E Street Band in five years. The cover of our new issue, featuring Iron & Wine was also mentioned, along with 4 to Watch artist Jesca Hoop, who has actually performed at the news station on a previous occasion.
But perhaps the most important issue that was brought up by Sweet was Paste’s involvement in the charity Not For Sale, which is an organization that we've joined in partnership with to help end slavery. With over 25 million people enslaved around the world, this is clearly an issue that deserves attention. The joint donation campaign hopes to help everyone become abolitionists, as well as raise awareness of the humanitarian problem worldwide.

Paste editor-at-large Jay Sweet paid another visit to Fox 25 in Boston to talk up his favorite bands at this year’s Lollapalooza and Newport Folk festivals, which includes – to quote host Frank Mallicoat - “a little Pearl Jam, too, for some of the older folk.”
In other news, membership to the Pearl Jam Ten Club now gives you access to the Denny’s Senior Menu.
Sweet also highlights OurStage, an online community where users rate emerging artists, of whom the highest ranked can win opportunities to play major festivals like Bumbershoot and CMJ Music Marathon. Attention winners: feel free to rub elbows at these events, but carefully. Osteoporosis affects one out of every four grunge icons.

In Paste editor-at-large Jay Sweet’s second “FOX Rocks in the Morning” appearance on FOX 25 in Boston, he previews some of this summer’s biggest festivals, including Coachella, Bonnaroo and the Newport Folk Festival.
Though The Police will soon be heading to Fenway Park, Sweet’s pick for this summer’s best show is Boston’s very own “Pops on the Edge” series, which will feature Ben Folds, the Cowboy Junkies and M. Ward playing alongside the legendary Boston Pops.
Also, listen up for a shout-out to current Paste cover subject The Hold-Steady, who Sweet calls, along with Arcade Fire, one of the two best bands in America.
