CLIF Greennotes adds artists, releases benefit album

|
CLIF Greennotes, a CLIF Energy Bar-sponsored program that helps musicians to green up their tours, has recently added five artists to the list of participants. The non-profit is in its fourth year, and plans to celebrate the growth of the endeavor with a benefit album, and a handful of neighborhood clean-up events.

G. Love's tour diary - Detroit Soul

|
G. love blue.jpg

We are on the second week of our six-week tear here. Last night found us in Detroit. I was chilling eating my dinner before the show, and what was on TV but 8 Mile. I had to watch it because Eminem is from Detroit, and, in all honestly, the freestyle is inspiration, plus the whole movie is dope.

8 Mile put me in a Detroit state of mind. There was a hell of a lot of good music that came out and is coming out of Detroit. John Lee Hooker, Stevie Wonder and Motown, right? Recently, other peeps like Em, Kid Rock and my boy Jack White. Sick soulful music grows in Detroit.

Lollapalooza 2008 round-up

Another Lollapalooza weekend has come and gone and music fans of all stripes left happy (unless, of course, they were fans of the Weakerthans, who had to cancel as a result of travel problems). Despite a record attendance of 225,000 fans, festivities and rock went on seamlessy under sun-filled skies each day. The festival's organizers outdid themselves this year with opening acts, starting the weekend out with a bang. Bang Camaro, that is. Other rising stars followed suit on days two and three with the Ting Tings belting out their infectious pop tunes (we overheard Love and Rockets' Daniel Ash mentioning that they were the only reason he was at Lollapalooza) while Austin's Octopus Project wowed us with a 500 balloon salutes and Yvonne Lambert's mesmerizing theremin skills.
