Listen to the Entire Them Crooked Vultures Album
Back in September, Paste drew up the ideal plan for Them Crooked Vultures to take over the world in the most classically rock ‘n’ roll fashion possible: play some live shows, avoid the press and let the good word spread naturally. Vultures’ power trio basically followed our advice, too. For awhile, that is. (Oh, hello, magazine cover.) Leaked song snippets and live YouTube clips were all we knew of these birds for their first months of existence. So for that mystique, Grohl, Jones and Homme, we thank you.... read more

Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones and Josh Homme walk into a bar... At first, the lineup of Them Crooked Vultures sounded so good it just had to be a joke, but there's no doubting it anymore: The new supergroup most likely to create something new and nostalgia-free just released its first single. And it rocks. Hard.... read more

Being in a supergroup is tricky business. You've got every member's fame in its own right, the press angling for a scoop on just why said band formed and cynical fans guessing that it might all just be for, you know, the Benjamins. But such doesn't seem the case for Them Crooked Vultures, the new supergroup—ahem, rock band—featuring Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and the Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl.... read more
Found in: Music, NewsDave Grohl/Josh Homme/John Paul Jones Supergroup Info Slowly Trickles Out
As of last month, all anyone really knew about the Dave Grohl/Josh Homme/John Paul Jones collaboration was that it was happening and that Grohl told Mojo in 2005 that the group "wouldn't suck." Finally, we know that the group has a name (Them Crooked Vultures), some decent social-networking skills and, potentially, a hush-hush gig coming up.... read more

Josh Homme sure hasn't lost his art of keeping a secret. We know about him producing the upcoming Arctic Monkeys' record. And we know about his long-rumored supergroup with Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones. But since the story broke back in 2005, Homme has let very little slip.... read more

After a Grammy, rave reviews and platinum sales, alt.grass (blueternative?) trio Nickel Creek abruptly went on "indefinite hiatus" in 2007, and have yet to make good on the "for now" part of their "Goodbye (For Now)" tour. Still, the musical impulse burns deep in the scrappy acoustinauts with Chris Thile's 2008 solo album, the Watkins siblings' supergroup, W.P.A., and Thile's currently touring project, Punch Brothers. Fiddler Sara Watkins recently announced the upcoming release of her self-titled debut: an album of long-marinating songs penned during her time spent in L.A.... read more

Despite rumors over past months that the remaining members of Led Zeppelin would record new material and tour after replacing frontman Robert Plant, "Led Zeppelin are over," said Jimmy Page's manager to MusicRadar. Found in: Music, NewsLed Zeppelin to tour with Alter Bridge frontman?
Since their 2007 one-off reunion concert, several members of Led Zeppelin have tried to arrange a splashy world tour, complete with new material from the reassembled band. The hitch has been former lead singer Robert Plant, who stalwartly refuses to rejoin the crew (even releasing a statement to refute the rumors). Remaining collaborators Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham (who replaced his father, John Bonham, as the band's drummer) recently told the press they're willing to take Zeppelin in a new direction. They've been sizing up replacement frontmen, and Billboard seems to think they've got an eye on... read more

When Nickel Creek said farewell (for now) to fans and disbanded in 2007, each member said they wanted to pursue solo projects. Vocalist and mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile went off to work with his group the Punch Brothers, where he recently composed a four-part, 40-minute suite entitled "The Blind Leaving the Blind" that features mandolin, violin, banjo, guitar and bass. Singer/violinist Sara Watkins is prepping her long-in-the-making solo album (due in early 2009), produced by Led Zeppelin member John Paul Jones and featuring guests Jon Brion and Gillian Welch.... read more

Led Zeppelin may be recording a new album, says collaborator Jason Bonham (via Pop Candy). The son of Zeppelin’s late drummer, John Bonham, Jason played with the band at its celebrated reunion concert last year in London.
