Jonny Greenwood offers 'Popcorn' to U.S.

The Daily Swarm reports that Radiohead’s multi-instrumental, effects manipulator extraordinaire Jonny Greenwood will perform his award-winning, BBC-commissioned piece “Popcorn Superhet Receiver” at St. Paul the Apostle church in New York City on January 16–17 of next year for the Wordless Music Series. Popcorn’s U.S. debut also marks the first program in the Wordless series utilizing a full orchestra. The piece, conceived by Greenwood during his term as BBC’s “Composer in Residence,” made its world premier in 2005 and eventually secured a Radio 3 Listeners Award, part of which includes PRS Foundation funding for his opus-in-progress.
