Kevin Smith Announces Final Film To Be A Two-Parter

Kevin Smith Announces Final Film To Be A Two-Parter

The infamous actor, director, and screenwriter Kevin Smith recently told a Montreal audience during a screening of a recent film that the final film of his career is simply too big a story to tell in just one movie. The film is entitled Hit Somebody and it is a comedy/drama based on a song off of Warren Zevon's final album. The song tells the story of a sardonic hockey player who is known for fighting on the rink. Not surprisingly, Smith's epic film adaptation is set to follow a similar kind of character and his dream to get into the NHL. According to an interview with MTV News, the films will take place in the 1970s during the "last gasp of the goon era of hockey when it was all about fighting". Smith envisions his labor of love not only making people laugh, but also pleasing critics and winning awards, even declaring it to be an "award-type movie".   read more

Salute Your Shorts: Kevin Smith's "Mae Day"

Salute Your Shorts is a weekly column that looks at short films, music videos, commercials or any other short form visual media that generally gets ignored.A lot of directors aren’t so keen on having their student films shown. Terrence Malick’s “Lanton Mills,” directed while he was still learning the trade at the American Film Institute, is kept on lockdown only available at the AFI to the institute’s scholars. Likewise, Kubrick did all he could to destroy every print of his first feature, though luckily he didn't succeed. But there’s a lot to be gleaned from films while directors are still...  read more
