Alt-rock eccentric Les Claypool, best known for his work with Primus, has finished work on the music video for “Phantom Patriot,” a new single from his latest release Of Whales and Woe. The video for “Phantom Planet,” featuring the work of German illustrator/animator Derek Roczen, is a vividly animated short featuring a Napoleon-esque sea captain fighting against a fleet of rebel cannonballs. Les Claypool Releases Album, Film, DVD and Novel

Bass virtuoso Les Claypool will kick off several projects next month. The Primus front-man will release a new studio album, Of Wales and Woe on May 30th. Claypool will immediately embark on a national tour to support the album, which includes a spot at Bonnaroo Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo, a film written, directed by and starring Claypool will be featured at several festivals, including the Malibu Film Festival and Portland Longbaugh festival in April. On Nov. 15, Les Claypool will release a DVD, 5 Gallons of Diesel, featuring a collection of over a decade of music video and live footage of Claypool's work. The release follows two Primus DVDs that were released in the last two years. Claypool has also finished work on Electric Apricot: Quest for Festeroo, a mockumentary about jambands.
