For a huge number of twenty- and thirtysomethings—myself included—1985 movie The Goonies is inextricably linked to our childhoods. How many times did we all watch this at a birthday party or sleepover? And how many times did we argue over who was gonna be Mikey when we took on the roles of the film’s colorful characters, re-enacting the treasure-map-guided, deadly-obstacle-strewn search for “the rich stuff,” so we could save our families from foreclosure and forced removal at the hands of greedy developers, just like the kids in the movie?... read more

In honor of Singer Luther Vandross, who is currently recovering from a diabetes-induced stroke he suffered last year, a benefit concert will be held for The American Diabetes Association next month in New York. The sponsors and producers of the program—which will be held Oct. 27 at the historical Theater at Madison Square Garden—are donating profits from ticket sales to the organization on Vandross’ behalf.
