Although it hardly made a dent in the box office, last year's biopic of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis was definitely an artistic success. Aside from its gorgeous visuals, one of the film's key elements was its restrained and poignant screenplay from television writer Matt Greenhalgh.  Greenhalgh followed the work up by writing about another important British artist, John Lennon.  But since the work was announced over a year ago without any news, word was that it had died.

Most of what the public knows about John Lennon is that of his Fab Four career and post-Beatles life with Yoko Ono; only die-hard Beatles fans—a group that includes this writer—know the little-known facts of Lennon's upbringing in 1950s Liverpool.
