How I Met Your Mother Review: "Tick, Tick, Tick..." (Episode 7.10)
Last week I predicted that the next episode of How I Met Your Mother would be one of the most important episodes not only of this season, but of the entire series. The Ted-Robin-Barney triangle has already been hinted as a catalyst for this season and “Tick, Tick, Tick ” was a giant step on every level. read more

There was a lot of build up for last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother. Not with promos dedicated to a fake out revelation of who the mother is actually going to be. Instead the writers decided to take us back to the first season’s Halloween episode where Ted longingly awaits a girl who dressed as a slutty pumpkin way back in 2001. read more

Some of the best How I Met Your Mother episodes are the ones that show us flashbacks from before 2005 (season one) or that explore the past of the characters’ lives. Think about the episode where Ted tells Blah-Blah how he met everyone else in the gang or the flashbacks from when Barney thought Bob Barker was his father. Of course the Robin Sparkles episodes are top of the line, but there are some that aren’t as instantaneously memorable, but when it comes on syndication you’ll instantly remember every joke. “Noretta” will be one of those episodes where it’s funny now and then will go in remission until one day you realize the genius behind it. read more

Recently, a lot of shows have relied on meta-references. Some sitcoms’ entire premise revolves around it while others slide jabs at itself subtly. How I Met Your Mother has really stepped up the game with writing dialogue about itself. It’s in such a microscopic manner that viewers would most likely think it’s just an interesting plot and that there is nothing more than perfectly timed jokes being delivered. read more

One of the best aspects about How I Met Your Mother is how tightly written and self-referential the show is. Sure, this episode doesn’t reference anything too obscure or that old; however, it does continue the joke of the ducky tie and brings back Kal Penn as Robin’s therapist Kevin. The episode also marks the return of Ted’s GNB Building, which has been a subplot for quite awhile now and eventually become central point to Ted’s story about finding his wife. read more

Last weeks episode of How I Met Your Mother ended on such a momentous note that the past week must have been agonizing for fans. The episode ended with the revelation that the Ted-Robin-Barney triangle would take a turn somewhere in the future and change the course of all of their lives. Of course it won’t be so big that they don’t talk to each other again because Future Ted often refers to both Robin and Barney and the children seem to understand who their ‘aunt’ and ‘uncle’ are. But the confusion that took place about what exactly Future Ted meant ate away at a lot of fans. read more
