For some reason, it’s always so much fun to see how your favorite TV characters met. Whenever Friends did it, it was amusing to see these six characters before the lessons and changes that had made them into who they were today. How I Met Your Mother and Happy Endings constantly do it. Hell, Lost made it part of the show’s formula. While we’ve seen glimpses of past versions of Nick, Jess, Winston and Schmidt, “Models” gives us a look at moments that created who they would eventually become and start the relationships they still hold dear years later.  read more

Like we saw last season with Jess and her students, something doesn’t work when the main group coincides with another group. Throw in a new love interest or two, that’s fine, but an entire group of younger kids doesn’t seem to draw the same excitement. However watching Nick literally give everything he’s got into pranking Schmidt works well, because it’s this core group dynamic that always works well. It is fun watching Schmidt engaging in activities that should fill the Douchebag Jar to its brim, his audience of early 20s hipsters just doesn’t have the life the show usually thrives on.  read more
