We live in strange and wonderful times, these, when a former Paste cover artist (in this case, the now-bearded Of Montreal frontman Kevin Barnes) can sit at his piano with a video camera, work on a song fragment (“Enemy Gene”) and share it immediately with his fans via Twitter (“Working on something new. http://tinyurl.com/yb24n2j”). It’s a lovely tune and interesting glimpse into what Barnes is up to musically these days, other than a song for Beyonce.
