Okkervil River Announce Tour Dates
After playing a handful of dates at this month’s SXSW, Okkervil River will take to the road throughout much of June in support of their upcoming release, I Am Very Far. Titus Andronicus, Future Islands, Julianna Barwick, New Villager will all perform in support of the Austin rockers on the trip. In the wake of their unexpected Album of the Year Grammy win, Arcade Fire has announced a sprawling world tour. Starting in Broomfield, Colo. this April, the band will make its way through the United States before heading over to Europe with a few festival stops along the way. Will Sheff has kept himself rather busy with a variety of interesting projects over the past year. He produced and played with his band Okkervil River‘s collaboration with psych-rock progenitor Roky Erickson the long-awaited True Love Cast Out All Evil, as well as producing the upcoming debut record from Brooklyn rock group, Bird of Youth. Sheff even left his mark on The New Pornographers’ latest record, Together, contributing vocals to the track “Moves.” But on Feb. 8, Okkervil River will release their first new material in a while with the recently announced “Mermaid” single.... read more
