Richard D. James, better known by his avant-garde electronic music moniker Aphex Twin, has continued to prove he's on the cutting edge of things. Like Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, he recently collaborated with Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki and was commissioned to compose music for Poland's European Culture Congress — but as Pitchfork points out, James took things a step further while in Wroclaw, Poland, and controlled a full orchestra with a remote control.  read more

Song Premieres: Peter Gabriel - "Wallflower" and "Mercy Street"

On Oct. 11, Peter Gabriel will release a new full-length album titled New Blood. The album features Gabriel reworking some of his old songs, this time with an orchestra called the New Blood Orchestra. John Metcalfe arranged the music and Ben Foster conducted. A press release said the idea wasn’t simply to rework old songs, but to pick songs that would benefit from a full-on string treatment.   read more
