Joe Pernice strikes book deal for first novel
University of Massachusetts alumnus Joe Pernice of the Pernice Brothers has further justified his Masters in Creative Writing with a brand new book deal. His last literary contribution was the novella Meat is Murder, a Smiths-inspired angst-ridden tale about Catholic school adolescence. Now, Riverhead Books, a division of Penguin, is counting on the Sub Pop/Ashmount Records rocker to churn out a full-on novel, which Pernice says is about one-third completed.
