Spike Jonze reuniting with Weezer for band's next video

|
Like peanut butter and jelly, Sonny and Cher, or a monkey and a cowboy outfit, some things just go together well. Collaborations between Weezer and Spike Jonze have always been fruitful, producing some of the most inventive music videos ever conceived. Videos for "Undone," "Buddy Holly," and "Island in the Sun" helped Jonze get the notice he needed to transition into the feature director he is today.

Star in Weezer's new video tomorrow

|

Weezer sent an invitation out to fans through its e-mail list to be in the band's next music video.  Seeing as how last time Rivers Cuomo and Co. gave out such an invite it lead fans to the Playboy Mansion, we thought it only prudent to send the info to any interested readers that will be in the Los Angeles area this tomorrow (Aug. 21) and willing to take the day off for some filming.

New Weezer/Rivers Cuomo material coming in November?

|
While putting the finishing touches on The Red Album and kicking off a tour to support it, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has been working on a side project of his own. Using YouTube to send videos to his fans, the singer has let folks submit every part of a new song from its chords to lyrics. The whole thing has been getting closer to completion after four months of work and, honestly, starting to turn out a really catchy power-pop song. When he wants to, that Cuomo knows his stuff.

Rivers Cuomo begins work on memoir

|

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has already completed about 400 pages of an upcoming memoir, according to Gigwise.com. That's one book down, and another seven to go, if he sticks with the current treatment planned for his work.

We first reported on the reclusive singer’s literary intentions back in August, when he shared his plan to write a book based on the contents of diaries he had written during his Harvard days. Cuomo wrote on his MySpace blog that the book would be “just as much musical in nature as literary,” and was definitely not a memoir.

Well, the times they are a-changin', and so to are both the subject and scope of Cuomo’s project. Perhaps influenced by Don McLean’s Buddy Holly-inspired ballad “American Pie,” Cuomo has already completed the first 400 pages of what he says will be an 8-volume memoir. The epic collection will span from Cuomo’s childhood to the present, with the first volume focusing on the early days of Weezer, roughly from 1992-1994.

No publishing deal or release date for the books has been announced, though Cuomo says a publishing deal for the first volume is on the table. But take heart, Weezer fans – you can catch up with Cuomo and the rest of the band when the new Weezer album drops April 22 on Geffen Records.
