Hal Holbrook recently spoke with Paste about Mark Twain when we named the great American author our 2010 Man of the Year in Nonfiction. Holbrook, of course, has portayed Twain in the one man show Mark Twain Tonight! for over half a century, and currently, That Evening Sun director Scott Teems is in production on a documentary, Holbrook/Twain, that explores the cultural touchstone. Scott Teems directed one of my favorite films last year—That Evening Sun, an adaptation of a William Gay short story starring Hal Holbrook, Ray McKinnon and Carrie Preston. The movie made brilliant use of an original Drive-By Truckers song (which you can watch Patterson Hood play and discuss here). First thing to do when arriving to the Little Rock Film Festival (if the films and parties haven't started) is to walk down Markham St. to The Flying Fish restaurant, just a rock's throw from the Bill Clinton Library.
