Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt was at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle on Tuesday to promote his web-based collaboration project "hitRECord":http://www.hitrecord.org/reel and surprised the crowd with a cover of Nirvana's "Lithium." Watch Jeff Tweedy Perform a New Wilco Song

In preparation for their forthcoming eighth album The Whole Love, alt-country-rock band Wilco hasn't been too secretive with the process. Already they've offered up lead single "I Might" and its B-side, a cover of Nick Lowe's "I Love My Label." More recently, they also released a behind-the-scenes video where they debuted "Art of Almost," and have torn through live renditions of "Born Alone" and "Dawned on Me" in recent concerts.  read more

The Hold Steady's Craig Finn Working on Solo Project

Craig Finn, frontman of Brooklyn bar-rockers The Hold Steady, is in Austin working on a solo project with producer Mike McCarthy. To document his progress, Finn has established a Tumblr account. So far it’s mostly photos of guitars, pianos and beer. Fans of Finn’s main enterprise shouldn’t fear, however. Yesterday’s Tumblr post said that The Hold Steady would start writing their sixth LP in September....  read more
