The Mali-native collective Tinariwen appeared on The Colbert Report last night in support of their album Tassili, released earlier this year. Last night on _The Colbert Report_, Stephen Colbert interviewed Brian Eno. After the interview, Colbert placed a copy of R.E.M.’s newest compilation on his shelf to commemorate the recently broken up band. But then Colbert went on to place R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe on his shelf as well, as Stipe, Colbert and Eno went on to all sing a rendition of “Lean on Me” together. Their three-part series culminated in Colbert’s performance of brand new track “Charlene II (I’m Over You)” with The Black Belles.
