The iPhone is growing into a respectable gaming platform, with the development of surprisingly good sports games like RSoccer09, a decent adaption of Assassin's Creed and barebones MMO games like World War and Kingdoms Live. But where it really excels is in casual games, and my favorite lately has been Tapword from Ben Lewis and Lee Linden at Tapjoy.
