Catalpa Festival Announces Lineup With Black Keys, Snoop Dogg
On July 28 and 29 the first Catalpa Festival is set to take place on Randall Island in New York City. The event is set to feature The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, TV on the Radio and The Big Pink. How about that - a festival with the backdrop of the world's most famous skyline. Doesn't sound too shabby. And with the likes of The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, TV On The Radio and The Big Pink in the first round of artists announced, the event sounds like a recipe for a delicacy. read more

While this new batch doesn't have anything as catchy as "Dominoes" or contemplative as "Velvet", The Big Pink dials up it's flair for Cure-esque anthemic 80s-pop right off the bat with a one-two opening salvo of "Stay Gold" and "Hit The Ground (Superman)". On "Give it Up" Furze and Cordell get blippy with their elctrodes and a could-be female chorus which I suspect is their voices modulated to high heaven. read more

NME reported today The Big Pink announced more details for their upcoming album, Future This. The album will be released Jan. 16 on 4AD and will feature 10 new tracks. As previously reported, the album’s opening song, “Stay Gold,” was released as a video in September. read more

British electro-rockers the Big Pink will follow up their debut album, 2009’s A Brief History of Love, with Future Love on 4AD. Although the album won’t be out until January of next year, you can watch an Ollie Murray-directed video for one of Future Love’s tracks now. The track, “Stay Gold,” was inspired by both Robert Frost’s poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” and a Stanley Kubrick-written Playboy article. read more
