We Fun: Atlanta, GA Inside Out filmmakers post trailer

A minor blues progression organ-vamps as the handheld camera zooms shakily into the devious grin of a young dude holding a dual-blaze firework lackadaisically, as if the object weren’t emitting a furious spark geyser next to his face....  read more

Deerhunter and Black Lips frontmen forge Ghetto Cross

image not available

Bradford Cox frequently updates the Deerhunter blog that originated as a dumping ground for random thoughts and photos. Over the course of barely half a year, the site has served as a cause of controversy, a place for band announcements and more, but most importantly, Cox regularly uploads music there. Be it mixes of stuff he loves, new songs under his solo-project moniker Atlas Sound or tracks from Deerhunter guitarist Lockett Pundt's other, excellent music outlet, Lotus Plaza, the blog is an aural treasure chest to say the least. Even the most hardcore Deerhunter completist would be taxed to keep...  read more

Black Lips play Australian fest, tour, work on next album

Next year is leap year, and while for many that might mean a 29-day celebratory orgy in February filled with utter pomp and circumstance, heathen behavior, indulgence left and right, gallon-sized tubs of butter and a wanton disregard for rules and regulations, for Black Lips, it simply means more touring. That's right, the dudes who have recently played both Israel and a strip club, and will soon portray semi-fictional band The Renegades in a movie, have scheduled additional shows. Surprise, surprise, right? Hell, even when Black Lips are at home, they can't seem to sit still for more than five...  read more

Director Chris Dortch talks ATL music documentary We Fun

[Above: Cole Alexander and Jared Swilley of Black Lips] More documentaries should open this way. Jared Swilley, the immaculately mustached bassist/vocalist of Black Lips, reclines in a small bed, beer in hand. Snuggled beside him, his head obscured by a messy pink wig, lies BBQ of the King Khan & BBQ Show. Sprawled out atop the both of them is King Khan himself. Sitting offscreen, Atlanta performer Jessica Juggz is leading a conversation about tea tree oil....  read more

Black Lips star as renegade rockers in upcoming film

image not available

As a band of good ol' Atlanta boys, Black Lips hold a special place in the hearts of Paste's staff. We always try to stay on top of whatever noxious schemes the group is brewing, whether that's rockin' the local strip club circuit, crusading in the Holy Land or just inspiring general silliness. So when they told us way back in July that they were signing aboard a movie called Let It Be, we were pretty stoked, albeit skeptical. Finally, however, we have official confirmation from Springboard Films, the group behind the film project. Production on the movie doesn't begin...  read more
