Sufjan Stevens isn’t the only indie musician spitting out Christmas tunes. The dB’s is releasing a Christmas album Nov. 21. The album, which was originally released as an seven-song LP in 1986 and a 17-track LP in 1993, is titled Christmas Time Again, and is reborn on Collector’s Choice Music with six new songs. Third edition of dB's Christmas album coming soon

November 21st, 2006 will serve as the release day of the third edition of The dB's "ever-evolving" holiday project, Christmas Time Again. Headed up by dB frontman Chris Stamey, this most recent incarnation of the album includes six new songs in addition to the 17 included on the album's 1993 edition. First released as a seven-song LP in 1986, the album now includes festive tracks by such indie rock favorites as Roman Candle and Thad Cockrell ("Christmas Time Is Here"), Marshall Crenshaw ("Lonely Christmas"), and Ryan Adams & Whiskeytown ("Houses on the Hill"). The dB's Record for First Time in Two Decades

The original lineup of The dB's (Peter Holsapple, Chris Stamey, Will Rigby, and Gene Holder) recorded new tracks at Water Music Recorders in Hoboken, N.J. in January. Engineered by George Cowan, (Iggy Pop, Natalie Merchant, The Band) this was the band’s first session in 25 years. Resulting from the January sessions are 7 new originals by Holsapple and Stamey and a cover of the Motown classic “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” upon reflection of the tsunami catastrophe.
