Watch Tom Morello Play With Bright Eyes

Watch Tom Morello Play With Bright Eyes

As Stereogum points out, Tom Morello joined Bright Eyes on stage for a couple of songs that included “Arienette” and a pretty sloppy “Road to Joy.” While it seems like a kind of weird combo, Morello’s mastery of controlled feedback complemented the moody “Arienette” pretty well before he launched into one of his typical whacked-out solos. read more

The Nightwatchman: World Wide Rebel Songs

The Nightwatchman: World Wide Rebel Songs

Joined by Ben Harper’s sweet baritone on “Save The Hammer,” there is a co-mingling of cultures, people coming together in the name of recognition. World Wide Rebel Songs, Morello’s third as The Nightwatchman, sees the acoustic protest singer plugging in, turning up and inviting the combustive Freedom Fighter Orchestra to join him for these dozen fist-pumping calls-to-action. Tom Morello and Boots Riley Form Street Sweeper Social Club

If you thought the pairing of Chris Cornell and Timbaland was a bad idea, well, go ahead and keep thinking that. Meanwhile, the new collaboration between Tom Morrello (the ex-Audioslave guitarist who once helped funkify the politically charged Rage Against the Machine) and hip-hop vanguard Boots Riley (of Oakland, Ca.'s The Coup) is a bit more respectable and infinitely cooler.... read more
