Randy Newman had a pretty great 2008. His most recent album, Harps and Angels, was warmly received by critics and audiences alike. Renowned for his work on a number of films, including his Oscar-winning tune for Pixar's Monsters, Inc., Newman's trademark voice and sound is instantly recognizable. So recognizable, in fact, it's inspired Washington D.C. comedians Paul and Storm to create a bizarre "advent calendar" inspired by the bespectacled piano man himself, entitled 25 Days of Newman. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right? Right.

Whether she was fired or walked off and came to a “mutual decision” with Summit Entertainment, director Catherine Hardwicke will not return for New Moon, the sequel to Twilight.

On the heels of her massive success in Twilight (she plays the lead role of Bella, for all you non-16-year olds), the Hollywood Reporter has announced that Kristen Stewart will play Joan Jett in The Runaways.

Charming vampire love story makes good with adaptation

The reviews are in for the first film-adapted book in Stephenie Meyer’s vampire saga and as many would expect, they’re mixed. But that’s hardly the point here since critics (read: grumpy old white men, for the most part) matter little to hordes of breathless (okay, obsessed) teenage fangirls.

Being a teenager sucks. Being a teenage vampire? Now that's the sort of misery worthy of an obtusely titled album. But if you just happen to be an adolescent bloodsucker on a Washington peninsula poised to cash in on the (lucrative) intersection of J.K. Rowling and Stephen King, life is actually pretty good right now.
