Rock Plaza Central and Fans Collaborate on Twitter Project

With the facility of micro-blogging service Twitter at their fingertips, musicians are increasingly able to keep their fans updated on their every move. Some artists, however, seem to tweet with equal significance the news of a successful recording session and the tastiness of that Philly cheesesteak they ate when stopping through the City of Brotherly Love. If you're feeling unsatisfied by a bevy of mundane and grammatically unorthodox posts, perhaps this new Twit-lit project will better serve you: Chris Eaton, novelist and frontman of Canadian band Rock Plaza Central, will post Twitter-length stories on the band's account on each day...  read more

A Dozen Quotable Moments as Reasons to Watch Christopher R. Weingarten Talk for 10 Minutes about Twitter, Bonnaroo and the Death of Music Criticism

image not available

I discovered this clip on Thursday afternoon (via Twitter, natch) on The Daily Swarm, and found it entertaining, thought-provoking and controversial. Christopher R. Weingarten has contributed to a number of substantial music publications over the last 10 years, and to say he's got a few things on his mind in regards to the state of the musical union is an understatement. Hilarious, furious, and argument-inducing, the above speech has more than a few quotable moments. As such, the dozen below are my way of coaxing you into burning 10 minutes of your life watching the video. It's Saturday, after all,...  read more

10 Filmmakers to Follow on Twitter

As potent as they can be, our interactions with our favorite filmmakers generally only come once every couple of years and last for a scant two hours. What are they doing when they're not sharing their brilliant narrative visions with us? Well, at least some of them are sharing the decidedly less dramatic narratives of their life via Twitter (Greg Mottola: "i'm equally ambivalent on the green chili. Like the taste okay -- don't love the heartburn"). We've selected 10 of the most interesting filmmaker Twitterers for your following pleasure....  read more

In my continuing weekly quest to discover the masters of brevity—so that my constant poring over a Twitter feed is not a complete waste of otherwise valuable time which could be used reading FailBlog (or, you know, working)—here's a look at some of my favorite magazines. Hopefully, you already follow @PasteMagazine, but the following list shows how other magazines condense their gorgeous printed brands into 140-digital-character bursts. (See also, 10 Musicians, 10 Comedians, Five Trekkies and 12 Music...  read more

We found a new use for Twitter today, as we began republishing the entirety of An Indie Rock Alphabet Book, 140 characters at a time. Beginning with A for Animal Collective, we'll hit a different letter—and band—each day through June 17. Sure, it's no Moby Dick or Alice in Wonderland, but then again, we're not leaving it up to a bot to Tweet....  read more

New Twitter Feature Allows File Sharing

Our apologies to Mark Zuckerberg, but Twitter is pretty much taking over the world.
