From the Vault: Lord Huron - "The Problem With Your Daughter"

It’s been just over a month since Lord Huron, the musical project of singer-songwriter Ben Schneider, released their debut full length Lonesome Dreams. Since then, Schneider has kept in touch, letting Paste follow him around in Chicago last month, and even stopping into Daytrotter for a session. With all that recent buzz, it’s no wonder that we wanted to look back in the Video Vault at some Lord Huron performance footage. “We found some cymbals at the last minute,” says Biship Allen’s lead singer Justin Rice in this charming performance video from 2009. “Ours got legs last night.” Watching this video, you can see how items might have disappeared in the hoopla of an evening with the band. Lyrics about swallowed keys and broken watches maintain the chaotic appeal of this bouncy Brooklyn-based group. The Carolina Chocolate Drops have turned a passion and respect for their past into a rich musical present. From the start, the members meticulously researched old-time fiddle, banjo, and other string music to create the sounds that have made their live performances extremely popular far beyond the Carolinas. In this performance video from Newport Folk Festival 2011, the band performs the song “Run Down” amidst an admittedly run down yet beautiful space for Paste.
