Listen to the Flaming Lips Collaborate with Siri

The Flaming Lips’ recent track “Now I Understand” has an unexpected —and not even human— guest on it. The track samples Siri, the super-intelligent personal assistant found on most iPhones. The track sees Siri directly addressing frontman Wayne Coyne, stating “Wayne, I don’t understand the moon, the stars and the sun.” Apparently the Lips’ music changed that for the monotone PA, who comes to some sort of resolution at the end. Take a listen to the track below. ...  read more

However, this is no mere ringtone or soundtrack to a cool app. The song is designed to operate like the Flaming Lips album, Zaireeka, which requires the four discs that make up the record to be played at the same time. Which is to say: the new telephone tune only comes to fruition when its four separate parts are played simultaneously on four phones....  read more

Wayne Coyne Unveils New Flaming Lips Movie

Wayne Coyne Unveils New Flaming Lips Movie

Their onstage antics include—but are in no way limited to—a human-size, crowd-surfing hampster ball, projectile confetti and enough laser pointers to cause some serious retinal damage. Topics covered on their albums range from the cosmos to robots to Vaseline. So it was no surprise when frontman Wayne Coyne was caught taking a bath on the front lawn, or when, in 2008, the Lips released the long-awaited Christmas on Mars, a movie about a suicidal Santa in outer space which starred Coyne as a Martian....  read more
