Besides hosting the eight-year-old annual Lebowski Fest, Louisville, Ky. also hosts the Forecastle Festival, which happens to be in its eighth year as well. Widespread Panic, the king of Athens, Ga.'s jam band scene, has taken its groove to New Orleans. The group is sponsoring a house in the Lower 9th Ward through The Pink Project, part of the Brad Pitt-spearheaded Make It Right Foundation. The band will head down to the Bahamas in May to record their 10th studio album with producer Terry Manning at Compass Point Recording Studios.
