Studio 54 has been closed for years, men and platform shoes are no longer an obvious pairing, and the last time we saw John Travolta getting his groove on he was dressed as woman. But despite all the evidence to the contrary (and what Steve Dahl would have us believe) disco is not dead.
Don't believe us? Exhibit A: Hercules and Love Affair. The New York-based group has regularly been praised for its distinctly "nu-disco" sound and its first single, "Blind," debuted in the UK Top 40. In fact, its Herculean popularity was only punctuated by the recent sold-out live debut at Brooklyn's Studio B.
In response to the Brooklyn show and the June 24 release of the group's self-titled debut album, this soon-to-be Paste Band of the Week (keep your eyes peeled!) announced four new tour stops across the U.S.
23 - Los Angles, Calif. @ The Echo
25 - San Diego, Calif. @ Casbah
26 - San Francisco, Calif. @ Mezzanine
8 - New York, N.Y. @ The Fillmore at Irving Plaza
