Maybe it's due to his practiced penchant for oration (sometimes successful, sometimes not), but Ben Affleck has been tapped to play an ambulance-chasing lawyer in Mike Judge's upcoming live-action flick, Extract.
Judge, who wrote the screenplay and will produce with John Altschuler and Mike Rotenberg, is most famous for creating TV's Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill, as well as workplace comedy Office Space. His latest effort, Idiocracy, was given little love by the Fox studio, but perhaps Miramax and Extract will feed off of one another a little more symbiotically in Judge's next go-round.
Extract will star Jason Bateman as a flower-extract factory owner who suffers from bad luck at work (where the wheels are coming off the wagon) and at home (where his wife is having an affair with a gigolo). Clifton Collins (Rules of Attraction, Capote) will be Affleck's client, who loses an appendage in an accident and seeks settlement. Others already signed on to the film are Mila Kunis (That '70s Show) and Kristen Wiig (SNL). The film will begin production Monday in Los Angeles.
