It's a gimmicky gambit, that title of Franz Ferdinand's upcoming third LP. But what the Tonight: Franz Ferdinand moniker lacks in elegance, it makes up for in marquee-preparedness.
Frontman Alex Kapranos has described the new album as "music of the night: to fling yourself around your room to as you psyche yourself for a night of hedonism, for the dance-floor, flirtation, for your desolate heart-stop, for losing it and loving losing it, for the chemical surge in your bloodstream."
Here's hoping that a subsequent live album is called Live Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, the inevitable early-morning supplement is Last Night: Franz Ferdinand and the eventual greatest hits compilation is Lost Nights: Franz Ferdinand.
The Scottish quartet will hit the road for the month ramp-up to Tonight's Jan. 26 release on Domino/Epic. Until then, enjoy the album's first single, "Ulysses":
