Coldplay announces tour dates, gets 60 Minutes treatment

You know you're kind of a big deal in music when CBS news program 60 Minutes decides to run a segment on you one hour before you're to compete in the Grammys. Guess that's what happens when a band is nominated for seven Grammy awards, sells nearly eight million copies of its latest album and, oh yeah, is frequently found on playlists of kids and their parents.

This is the borderline-creepy twilight zone Coldplay has created. No longer living in the shadow of its influences, the band has reached the point where it will forever remain selling out arenas and amphitheaters no matter how good or bad it ages with time (Rolling Stones, U2, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, etc., we're looking at you).

Which leads us to, you guessed it, tour dates! Coldplay has announced a 14-date North American summer tour. Ticket sales begin Feb. 14-21, depending on the area.
