In one of the strangest bits of supergroup news in, well, a good while, former Smashing Pumpkins member James Iha, a grown-up Taylor Hanson, Cheap Trick's Bun E. Carlos and Fountains of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger are set to release their debut album on April 21 as new band called Tinted Windows.
Hanson and Schlesinger had always wanted to collaborate on something together since their friendship started in the mid-'90s. But because of scheduling conflicts and constant touring, it never materialized. Later, ideas of writing songs with Iha from Smashing Pumpkins and recording a power-pop/modern rock album starting coming up, and the trio began looking for their drummer. Enter Bun E. Carlos.
The band started recording and has already shot two videos for the upcoming album's singles. There is no tour news as of yet, but they will perform at some clubs and New Jersey's Bamboozle festival.
Luckily, for those of us who are deadly curious, we will get a sneak peek of this quirky foursome's tracks during March's SXSW. Also be sure to catch their performance on Late Night with David Letterman on April 20.
