A few more details have been firmed up about Nowhere Boy, the John Lennon biopic that is in the works. According to Variety, The Weinstein Co. has acquired U.S., Latin American and German rights to the film, which was penned by Matt Greenhalgh, the writer behind Joy Division biopic Control. Visual artist Sam Taylor-Wood will be directing.
Nowhere Boy focuses on Lennon's tumultuous youth and relationship with his Aunt Mimi (Kristin Scott Thomas) and mother (Anne-Marie Duff). The film follows Lennon (Aaron Johnson) from birth until the 1950s when he was about to form the Quarrymen. Production has already begun in Liverpool. Weinstein Co. is looking for a year-end or 2010 release.
