Andy Baio has everything he needs for a traditional marriage: something old, something new, something borrowed and something Blue. But his latest project, Kind of Bloop, an 8-bit tribute to the Miles Davis classic Kind of Blue, is hardly traditional. Baio hopes that the marriage of electronic sound and jazz will result in something truly unique to commemorate the album's 50th anniversary on Aug. 17. "What would the pioneers of jazz sound like on a Nintendo Entertainment System?" he wondered, calling upon chiptune musicians Chris J. Hampton, Rich Vreeland, Sergio de Prado, Samuel Ascher-Weiss and Jake Kaufman to help him turn this idea into reality.

But Baio realized he couldn't do this without a little more support, so he turned to Kickstarter, a website dedicated to helping people raise funds for artistic endeavors. He set up a page asking for donations to complete the project, and the response was overwhelming. Although his deadline to stop collecting money is Aug. 1, Baio has collected 308% of the $2,000 needed to complete the album.
