For their third LP, Time to Die, folk duo The Dodos not only teamed up with successful producer Phil Ek (Built to Spill, Fleet Foxes, The Shins) but also recruited a third member: 21-year-old vibraphonist Keaton Snyder.
Snyder is a classically-trained music-school dropout whose vibraphone adds a new dimension to Logan Kroeber's drums and frontman Meric Long's guitar, though the band promises Time to Die remains as simple as the rest of their catalogue. "After Visiter, we had a lot of options for which direciton to go," said Long in a recent statement. "But I knew we wanted to make a rock record. Being an acoustic band--primarily, at least--sort of works against this idea, but Phil's production showcased that side of our band."
Time to Die will be released Sept. 15 on Frenchkiss Records.
