Before Jason Molina and Magnolia Electric Co. announced their third LP, Josephine, the songwriter teamed up with Centro-matic's Will Johnson in Texas to create some folk of their own.
ten days we wrote, co-wrote, workshopped, complimented, scrutinized,
drank, invited friends to come play music, smoked, made lots of notes
and drawings, drank a little more and shot the BB gun off the back
porch when we just needed some time and space," Johnson said in a statement. "In the throes of all
this, our record was made in the late February sun."
The end result of those nights is Molina and Johnson, out Nov. 2 in the U.K. and Nov. 3 in the United States via Secretly Canadian. The two frontmen have yet to announce a tracklist for the EP, though inquiring minds can check out "Twenty Cycles to the Ground," courtesy of the label.
Following the release, Molina and Johnson will tour Europe for the second half of November and first half of December. A U.S. tour will follow in 2010.
