Even after conducting the most thorough examination of Pearl Jam possible, we never would have been able to picture nor predict where Eddie Vedder would lend his trademark vocals next: the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
But it’s true: Next year’s festivities, April 23-25 and April 29-May 2 will mark the first appearances in the festival’s 50 years of running by Pearl Jam, The Dead Weather, My Morning Jacket, The Levon Helm Band, Elvis Perkins in Dearland and Drake. Returning acts include Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, The Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, who just finished recording a charity compilation featuring Tom Waits, Brandi Carlile, and fellow festival performers The Blind Boys of Alabama.
Discount ticket packages for the festival weekends range from $120 to $160, and are on sale now. For more information, including a complete festival lineup, visit NOJazzFest.com.
