One will be set after a zombie apocalypse and the other revolves around the investigation of a young girl’s murder. Given AMC stellar record of original programming (Mad Men,” Breaking Bad and Rubicon), you might say we’re excited to hear about a couple new series. The network announced recently they had ordered pilots for two new shows, bringing the grand total in the history of AMC to just five (all three previously ordered pilots became shows).
The Walking Dead
is based on Robert Kirkman’s popular comic-book series and follows a group of human survivors of a zombie apocalypse as they search for safety. It will be written and directed by Frank Darabont, who was responsible for The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.
The other pilot, The Killing, ties together three separate stories, all revolving around a young girl’s murder. It will be part police drama, part exploration of Seattle politics and part family drama. Based on a popular Danish show called Forbrydelsen, the show will tap Veena Sud (Cold Case) as writer and executive producer.
