Johnny Depp is set to work on a documentary about rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle epitome and Rolling Stones guitarist, Keith Richards. The pair previously worked together in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (after serving as the inspiration for Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, Richard played Sparrow’s father the third Pirates film), but their latest collaboration will find Depp behind the camera.
Depp told Serbian newspaper Politika (translation via The Playlist) about his plans to direct a documentary about the musician, saying, “Now that I’m wiser, and that enough time has passed, I can experience directing again.” (His last stab was 1997’s The Brave.)
“Already next week I’ll start working on a Keith Richards documentary,” Depp continued. “While I’m in Drvengrad, my editor is already working on kilometers of archive footage and footage of his concerts. I’m very touched that Keith agreed to show up in front of my cameras.”
