It’s been four years since Josh Ritter released one of our favorite albums of the decade, The Animal Years, and nearly that long since his last studio recording, The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter. Good news, then: This morning, Ritter announced on his website (via Speakers in Code) that he’ll be dropping his next studio release later this spring.
So Runs the World Away will be available April 23 in Ireland and May 4 in the U.S. The record took Ritter over a year to make, and he seems satisfied with the fruits of his long labor. “I love the songs on this record so much,” he writes on his website. “Change of Time,” the first single from the new album, is available to for free download via Ritter’s website. His tour kicks off in Galway, Ireland in April. Tickets go on sale Feb. 26.
