Belle and Sebastian Returns to the Studio, Stage

It’s been four years since Stuart Murdoch put Belle and Sebastian on hold to record God Help the Girl. While twee-pop fans have been subsisting since then on gumdrops and Kimya Dawson, it surely comes as good news that the syrupy Scots are regrouping this year, with new songs ready for an upcoming L.A. recording session and a handful of festival dates on the books for this summer.

According to Pitchfork, B&S recently sent an e-mail to their mailing list announcing that they’d soon head to L.A. to record new songs written in Glasgow. All this week, they’ve been announcing show dates via Twitter, saying “The live calendar is filling up!” With just three dates lined up so far, “full” is hardly an apt word to describe the band’s agenda, but they promise to add another show (in the UK, no less) this week, so that’s something.

Dates so far:

July
11 – Turku, Finland @ Ruisrock Festival
15 – Tonsberg, Norway @ Slottsfjell Festival

August
1 – Naeba Ski Resort, Yuzawa-machi, Niigata, Japan @ Fuji Rock Festival
