Back in January, we showed you the Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps trailer, director Oliver Stone’s sequel to his 1987 film Wall Street (both versions star Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko). Everything’s still a go with the flick, which was previously set to hit theaters in April, but Fox has announced they’re pushing the release date back to September.
The reasoning behind the decision? Apparently Stone hopes his movie will be given a slot at this year’s Cannes Film Festival in May, so holding off on the release would give it extra momentum before it appears in cinemas. Plus, as the BBC reports, the studio says holding off until fall would mean the film could miss the crowded summer box office.
