Curmudgeonly elders disappointed with the college youth’s lack of current events knowledge, rejoice! Unless, of course, the fact that many twenty-somethings cite The Daily Show as their primary news source makes your grumpy. Comedy Central has renewed both its faux-news shows through the 2012 election season, The Daily Show contract going into June 2013.

Fans of the show can rest easy knowing they’ll still get their soundbites on world news and campaign trail shenanigans, punctuated by stories about beer-drinking goat mayors and the like, through what’s sure to be a viscous presidential election. The only bad news: their ongoing gigs at the cable network mean that Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart will once again not be running for office.
