On April 18, many of Canada’s biggest names gathered in St. John’s Newfoundland for the 39th annual Juno Awards. While Michael Bublé was the big winner, several Paste-approved artists were among the nominees and winners.
Metric took both Group of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year (Fantasies) honors. Drake’s So Far Gone was named Rap Recording of the Year. Broken Social Scene’s Charles Spearin’s The Happiness Project was awarded Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year. (Sadly, Justin Bieber —who was up for three Juno Awards—walked away empty-handed.)
The GLAAD Media Awards took place in Los Angeles just one night before the Juno Awards, and named Fox’s Glee its Outstanding Comedy Series. Drew Barrymore and comedian Wanda Sykes also were also honored by GLAAD.
