Seems Kelly Kapoor isn’t the only member of Subtle Sexuality with a book deal.
Crown Publishing, the same company that will be publishing Mindy Kaling’s 2011 book The Contents of My Purse, just acquired the rights to Monday Sessions, the debut novel from Ellie Kemper, AKA: Dunder Mifflin receptionist Erin Hannon.
Monday Sessions, a collaboration between Kemper and her sister, Carrie Kemper, who is a staff writer for The Office, focuses on the daily adventures of Dr. Amy Rice, a psychotherapist working in Manhattan. The novel is slated for a 2012 release on Crown imprint Three Rivers Press.
“We were really thinking, what could appeal to most of America?” Ellie Kemper tells the New York Times’ ArtsBeat blog. “And we thought: a series of psychotherapy sessions on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.”
Kemper’s hardly a stranger to the world of the printed word, though. She’s been writing humor pieces for years as a contributor to the likes of The Onion, CollegeHumor.com and McSweeney’s, for whom she wrote short pieces like “”Following My Creative Writing Teacher’s Advice to Write ‘Like My Parents Are Dead’ and “”Listen, Kid, The Biggest Thing You’ve Got Going For You is Your Rack.
